CFO/VP, Finance - AVIVO

Join the executive team as the Chief Financial Officer/Vice President of Finance for Avivo, a premier, non-profit human services organization founded in 1960, whose mission is to increase well-being through recovery and career advancement, while working to end homelessness. Avivo serves more than 11,000 people annually and has an annual budget of $42 million.

The CFO/VP, Finance, is responsible for all financial matters of Avivo and its subsidiaries. The CFO/VP, Finance will work closely with the President/CEO. In addition, s/he will partner with executive leadership and the board of directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization. The CFO/VP, Finance will oversee all compliance and recognition for government (federal, state, county, city) contracts, fee-for-service and private grants. S/he must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace. This position is responsible for managing the accounting and finance functions of the organization, insurance, risk management, safety, and facilities. This includes compliance in all aspects with standards set by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), funding sources, the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), licensing, local and state ordinances, insurance industry standards, and other accepted best practices in accounting and finance program compliance, safety and facilities management to assist the organization in achieving its mission. The CFO/VP Finance is a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop policies and procedures for fiscal control, risk management, contract, and legal compliance
  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including analytical support and metrics for President/CEO, senior leadership and Board of Directors
  • Oversee all financial, program, and grants accounting ensuring compliance with GAAP, strong internal controls, and segregation of duties
  • Coordinate and lead the annual Financial, Single and 5500 audit process in addition to completing the 990, coordinating with the external auditors and the Internal Relations committee of the Board of Directors
  • Be responsible, with President/CEO, for fiduciary responsibilities of 40l(k) plan
  • Oversee cash flow planning, banking, and investing relationships
  • Arrange for debt financing
  • Oversee and monitor fee-for-service and contract billing and subsequent collection, ensuring cash flow is steady and supports operational requirements
  • Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow, capital and performance measurement tools) ensuring proper review and analysis, working closely with Programs
  • Manage Payroll function

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA in Accounting; MBA or CPA preferred
  • Five or more years in a leadership/management role
  • At least 15 years of overall professional experience from for-profit and nonprofit organizations
  • Experience having responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting, and audit coordination for a complex organization or a significant division
  • Technology savvy with experience in financial software
  • Ability and willingness to perform accounting functions
  • Strong knowledge and use of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Strong non-profit finance and accounting skills
  • Must be collaborative, decisive, and demonstrate a strong results-driven approach
  • Ability to coach others to a high level of performance, build a cohesive team, and create an atmosphere of respect
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination

SALARY

$153,923 – $192,403 annually, depending on experience
